Less than a month from now, one of the biggest agricultural expo's held in Missouri will come to Poplar Bluff. The annual Ag Expo will celebrate its 28th year during the farm show's return to the Black River Coliseum. The Daily Statesman newspaper recently highlighted the upcoming event. There will be 118 booths available to visit and learn first-hand about agriculture and its importance to the economy. The expo will also feature outdoor exhibits and admission is free. Ten thousand people attended last year's two-day event.
The event will be held Friday, Jan. 24 from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday, January 25 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free and the two days are packed with activities for the whole family. Entertainment and events include gospel, jazz, and contemporary music; line dancing and clogging; beauty pageants; and agriculture seminars. There will be toy tractor pedal pull contests for youth ages 4 to 9. There will also be a tractor driving contest for FFA members; petting farm; an old time auction; a milking contest; an ag photography contest; and baking contest. We will again have a Duck Calling contest for adults and youth.
This year there will be the Pesticide Applicator Training which will be held at the Expo on Friday afternoon starting at 2 p.m.
