Supply was heavy this week, particularly in southern Missouri, after several auction barns in that region were either closed or moved very few cattle last week due to a winter storm. This week was also a ‘last call’ for producers as it’s basically the last marketing week of the year, as most barns will be closed for the duration of 2013 in observance of the Christmas and New Year holidays. With several months of winter weather to go, demand remains very good, especially for light calves.
